HPE announced a new Cray supercomputing portfolio that integrates 100% direct liquid cooling, NVIDIA Rubin GPUs, AMD EPYC Venice CPUs, and DAOS‑enabled storage, aiming to deliver up to 30‑fold performance gains in dense configurations.

The portfolio includes three blade models—GX440n Accelerated Blade, GX250 Compute Blade, and GX350a Accelerated Blade—along with the HPE Cray Supercomputing Management Software. These components will become available in early 2027, while the HPE Slingshot 400 interconnect is already available for GX5000 systems and will expand to EX‑based clusters in Fall 2025. The HPE Cray Supercomputing Storage Systems K3000, which embed DAOS for high‑speed I/O, will launch in early 2026.

Trish Damkroger, HPE’s senior vice president and general manager of HPC and AI Infrastructure Solutions, said the new platform “provides a unified architecture that accelerates AI and HPC workloads while reducing power and space requirements.” The announcement signals HPE’s continued pivot toward AI‑centric, hybrid‑cloud solutions and positions the company to capture growing demand for high‑density, energy‑efficient supercomputing in research, sovereign, and enterprise markets.

The launch comes at a time when the AI supercomputer market is intensifying, with competitors such as NVIDIA, IBM, and Google expanding their offerings. By integrating the latest NVIDIA Rubin GPUs and AMD EPYC Venice CPUs, HPE aims to deliver cutting‑edge performance that can compete with specialized AI hardware, while its liquid‑cooling design addresses the rising power density and cooling challenges that limit current systems.

HPE’s strategic focus on AI infrastructure is expected to strengthen its competitive position and support long‑term revenue growth. The new portfolio aligns with the company’s broader investment in networking (Slingshot 400) and storage (K3000) to create a cohesive, high‑performance ecosystem that can be deployed across on‑prem, edge, and cloud environments.
