Hexcel Corporation has announced a strategic partnership with JetZero, collaborating through the FAA's Fueling Aviation's Sustainable Transition (FAST) program. This initiative focuses on qualifying composite materials for JetZero's all-wing design aircraft development program.
Hexcel was selected as the provider of composite materials for the structural demonstration of the all-wing design airplane. This selection leverages Hexcel's comprehensive carbon fiber and resin infusion technology portfolio and its leadership in advanced aerospace materials.
The collaboration aims to accelerate the development of lightweight composite materials well-suited for a blended wing body aircraft design. This design is projected to offer up to 50% lower fuel burn compared to existing commercial airliners, with JetZero targeting commercial service entry in 2030.
