i-80 Gold Corp. announced the appointment of Paul Chawrun as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective April 30, 2025. Mr. Chawrun is an accomplished executive mining engineer with over 30 years of technical, operating, and corporate leadership experience, primarily focused on gold mining.
Mr. Chawrun's extensive background includes overseeing improvements in safety and engineering standards, reducing operating costs, and managing life of mine expansions at Centerra Gold, where he served as COO and Executive Vice President. He also played a key role in transitioning Teranga Gold from a single-asset to a multi-asset mid-tier gold producer.
This appointment is a pivotal step for i-80 Gold as it aims to execute its new development plan and advance its high-grade assets through feasibility, engineering, and construction into production. Matthew Gili will resign from his position as President and COO on April 30, 2025, and assist with the transition, with CEO Richard Young assuming the President role.
