International Flavors & Fragrances announced on November 6, 2025 that it had closed the sale of its Thomson, Illinois production site to Jungbunzlauer, a global leader in natural ingredients. The transaction is part of IFF’s ongoing portfolio‑optimization program, which has focused on divesting non‑core assets to sharpen the company’s focus on high‑growth segments such as Taste, Scent and Health & Biosciences.

The Thomson facility, formerly part of IFF’s Food Ingredients operations, will be integrated into Jungbunzlauer’s U.S. manufacturing network. The buyer plans to invest in advanced manufacturing capabilities at the site, marking Jungbunzlauer’s first U.S. manufacturing footprint and expanding its ability to serve North American customers. The sale does not include any of IFF’s commercial business, product lines or employees, meaning the transfer is limited to the physical plant and its operational assets.

By divesting the Thomson site, IFF expects to streamline its U.S. footprint and free up capital that can be redeployed toward innovation and core business expansion. The transaction aligns with IFF’s broader strategy to reduce debt and improve operational focus, a theme that has driven other recent asset sales, including the divestiture of its Soy Crush, Concentrates and Lecithin businesses to Bunge earlier in 2025.

The purchase price was not disclosed, but the deal is a continuation of IFF’s portfolio‑optimization strategy, underscoring the company’s commitment to concentrating resources on its most profitable and growth‑oriented segments while providing Jungbunzlauer with a strategic entry point into the U.S. market.
