Indie Semiconductor announced that it has fully integrated Mixel’s MIPI D‑PHY CSI‑2 transmit and receive intellectual property into its automotive radar processors and monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) products. The integration delivers ASIL‑B compliant, automotive‑grade MIPI interfaces that support front‑looking, corner radar, collision detection, automated emergency braking, and in‑cabin occupant monitoring.

The MIPI IP was characterized by Mixel to meet AEC‑Q100 Automotive Grade 1 requirements and passed the MIPI Alliance’s D‑PHY Conformance Test Suite. These certifications confirm that the interface can operate reliably in the harsh automotive environment while meeting the stringent safety integrity level required for advanced driver‑assist systems.

By adding certified MIPI connectivity, Indie’s radar architecture becomes more efficient and scalable. The new interfaces reduce data‑path latency and lower power consumption, allowing Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs to integrate radar functionality into a broader range of vehicle platforms without redesigning the core processor. The milestone also shortens development cycles, giving Indie a competitive edge in the rapidly growing ADAS market.

Mixel, a subsidiary of Silvaco Group, is known for mixed‑signal IP solutions that are already silicon‑proven across multiple process nodes. The partnership leverages Mixel’s expertise in automotive safety certifications and Indie’s experience in radar signal processing, positioning the company to offer a differentiated, high‑performance radar solution to automotive manufacturers.

The integration signals Indie’s continued focus on expanding its product portfolio beyond traditional semiconductor offerings. With the new MIPI IP, the company can target a wider array of safety‑critical applications, strengthening its relationships with Tier 1 partners and enhancing its strategic backlog in the automotive sensor market.
