International Seaways (INSW) announced a partnership with V., a global ship manager, to launch a newly designed female cadet program. This initiative aims to foster a more inclusive and positive working environment onboard vessels.
The program includes strategic initiatives such as providing gender-specific facilities, workwear, safety equipment, and health and wellness programs for female cadets. The first intake of cadets will join dedicated training ships in September and receive support from female senior officers.
This joint project addresses the maritime industry's skills shortage and the underrepresentation of women, who constitute less than 2% of the global seafaring workforce. The program seeks to increase the visibility and attractiveness of maritime careers for women, enhancing the talent pool and promoting diversity.
