International Paper announced on April 2, 2025, that it has exceeded its sustainability goal of conserving and restoring 1 million acres of ecologically significant forestland. The company has restored nearly 1,158,000 total acres, achieving this milestone six years ahead of schedule.

This achievement reinforces International Paper's commitment to environmental stewardship and climate resilience. The conservation efforts enhance biodiversity protection and strengthen carbon sequestration, contributing to sustainable land management.

In 2024, the company reaffirmed its dedication by investing $15.3 million to renew strategic alliances with key conservation partners, including the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. This initiative has supported projects that will restore, enhance, or protect over 2.2 million acres of southern forestlands.
