Jabil Inc. announced its plan to open a new factory in Gujarat, India, marking its second facility in the country. This development follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Gujarat state government in November 2024, which initiated the exploration of long-term goals and opportunities in the region.

The announcement coincides with a new MoU signing with the state government during the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit event. In the short term, Jabil and the state will explore building a post-wafer fabrication silicon photonics facility. This facility will incorporate advanced co-packaged optics capabilities, crucial for high-speed data transfer in AI infrastructure.

This expansion reinforces Jabil's commitment to diversifying its global manufacturing footprint and investing in high-growth technologies like photonics. The new factory in India is expected to support the cloud, computing, storage, networking, and semiconductor markets, leveraging India's domestic demand and young workforce.
