Jumia CEO Francis Dufay stated on September 10, 2025, that President Donald Trump's trade war is indirectly benefitting Africa's largest e-commerce company. This benefit stems from Jumia gaining additional access to Chinese goods.

Dufay explained that if U.S. economic policy features more severe tariff regimes against China, Chinese manufacturers may rebalance their focus towards Africa. This shift could make it easier for Jumia to secure more supply.

Such a decline in the cost of Chinese supplies would improve the value proposition for Jumia's goods, providing a much-needed increase in spending power for cost-conscious consumers in a number of African markets. This macroeconomic dynamic could serve as a tailwind for Jumia's business.
