Flashfood, an affordable grocery app, partnered with The Kroger Co.'s Mid-Atlantic Division to introduce its program across 16 Richmond-area Kroger stores on July 31, 2025. This pilot aims to expand affordable grocery access and reduce food waste.
Through the Flashfood app, customers can purchase fresh groceries that are in surplus or nearing their best-by date, including meat, dairy, produce, and baked goods, at significant discounts. Items are then picked up from designated zones within participating Kroger stores.
This partnership supports Kroger’s 'Zero Hunger, Zero Waste' program, aligning with its commitment to sustainability, affordability, and healthy food access. The initiative is expected to benefit value-conscious shoppers and contribute to environmental goals by diverting food from landfills.
