Lumentum Holdings Inc. announced that its near-term and net-zero science-based targets for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have been approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This approval signifies the company's commitment to reducing its environmental impact in line with global climate science.
The approved near-term targets include a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by fiscal year 2030 from a fiscal year 2022 baseline. Additionally, Lumentum aims to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and upstream transportation and distribution by 25% by fiscal year 2030 from a fiscal year 2022 baseline.
Under the SBTi's Corporate Net-Zero standard, Lumentum has also committed to achieving net-zero GHG emissions across its entire value chain by 2050. This strategic move aligns with the sustainability priorities of its key customers, including cloud data center and artificial intelligence infrastructure providers, reinforcing Lumentum's leadership in both technology and environmental stewardship.
