908 Devices Inc. secured a government contract for 23 MX908 handheld mass spectrometers, which will be used by the U.S. Coast Guard for narcotics interdiction and hazardous threat detection. The order brings the total number of Coast Guard‑fielded MX908 units to more than 35 across the maritime environment.

The contract was placed through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency under the NATO Logistics Stock Exchange vehicle, allowing all NATO member nations to access the technology. While the monetary value of the 23‑unit order has not been disclosed, the acquisition adds to 908 Devices’ expanding customer base and supports its strategy to capture government contracts.

The deal is expected to contribute to recurring revenue and reinforce the company’s trajectory toward profitability, although 908 Devices continues to report negative operating and net margins. The company has recently divested its bioprocessing product portfolio to focus on its core handheld chemical analysis devices for health, safety, and defense applications.
