Mattel was forced to pull thousands of its 'Wicked'-branded fashion dolls from shelves on November 11, 2024, due to a significant packaging misprint. Instead of directing consumers to the official WickedMovie.com website, the doll boxes featured a link to a pornographic website.

The toy company issued a statement expressing deep regret for the error and advised parents to discard the product packaging or obscure the incorrect link, as it was not appropriate for children. Major retailers including Target, Walmart, and Amazon promptly removed the dolls from their online storefronts.

This incident led to a lawsuit filed on December 3, 2024, by a South Carolina mother, alleging emotional distress after her daughter accessed the adult entertainment website through the misprinted link. The mishap caused substantial reputational damage and potential financial implications for Mattel, despite the dolls being intended to boost holiday sales ahead of the 'Wicked' film release.
