MongoDB has appointed CJ Desai as president and CEO effective November 10, 2025, following Dev Ittycheria’s retirement after 11 years in the role. Ittycheria will remain on the board and advise Desai during the transition.
Desai brings more than 25 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, AI, enterprise software and product innovation. He most recently served as president of product and engineering at Cloudflare, where he led the expansion of the company’s cloud services. Prior to that, he was president and chief operating officer at ServiceNow, where he helped grow annualized revenue from $1.5 billion to over $10 billion. He has also held executive roles at EMC, Symantec and Oracle.
MongoDB reiterated its outlook for the third quarter of fiscal 2026, stating it expects to exceed the high end of its guidance for revenue and adjusted earnings per share. The company will report finalized Q3 FY2026 results on December 1, 2025. In Q2 FY2026, MongoDB generated $591 million in revenue, up 24% year‑over‑year, and reported non‑GAAP operating income of $87 million, a 15% margin.
The company attributes its strong performance to continued growth of its Atlas cloud database platform, which now accounts for more than 70% of total revenue. Atlas has seen increased adoption in AI‑related workloads, vector search capabilities, and the recent acquisition of Voyage AI, which enhances its AI‑powered application development. Desai said he aims to grow MongoDB’s revenue to $5 billion-plus in a durable, profitable manner, positioning the company as the gold standard for modern database technology.
Desai’s departure from ServiceNow in 2024 followed an internal investigation into hiring‑policy violations. He was appointed at Cloudflare in October 2024 and joined MongoDB in November 2025. The transition is part of a planned succession process, and the board expressed confidence in Desai’s ability to lead MongoDB into its next growth phase.
