Meta has entered into long‑term power purchase agreements for 385 MW of solar capacity in Louisiana, comprising the 185 MW Beekman Solar project in Morehouse Parish and the 200 MW Hollis Creek project in Sabine Parish, both developed by Treaty Oak Clean Energy.
The agreements will bring Meta’s total contracted solar purchases to more than 3 GW, adding to the 600 MW Texas solar project announced earlier this week. Commercial operation for the Louisiana projects is expected in the third quarter of 2027, providing a two‑year lead time from the announcement.
These purchases are part of Meta’s strategy to power its expanding artificial‑intelligence data centers with clean energy. The company’s net‑zero commitments include achieving 100 % renewable power for all global operations by 2030 and reaching 9.8 GW of green power by 2025.
The long‑term PPAs provide stable pricing and reduce exposure to fossil‑fuel volatility, while the projects are projected to generate significant state and local tax revenue and create construction jobs.
Meta’s renewable‑energy expansion aligns with broader industry trends, as major technology firms secure large‑scale renewable supplies to meet the escalating power demands of AI workloads.
