On October 23, 2025, Ramaco announced the start of mobilization and site development for a new pilot processing plant and laboratory adjacent to its Brook Mine in Sheridan, Wyoming. The facility will demonstrate conversion of carbonaceous ore into high‑purity individual rare earth oxides, a key step toward a U.S. domestic supply chain for critical minerals.

The pilot plant is backed by a $6.1 million matching grant from the Wyoming Energy Authority’s Energy Matching Fund and follows the company’s earlier $6.1 million grant announcement. Ramaco has secured all zoning and environmental permits, and the plant will process rare earths and critical materials that China has recently restricted from export, positioning the company to meet growing U.S. demand.

CEO Randall W. Atkins said the milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter in American rare earth production and will serve as a bridge to a full‑scale commercial oxide processing facility. The pilot facility’s focus on both rare earths and critical minerals underscores Ramaco’s dual‑engine growth strategy, combining low‑cost metallurgical coal with a transformative critical‑minerals business.
