Marti Technologies has added public‑transportation options to its mobility super app, launching the feature in Istanbul. The update brings metros, trams, funiculars, cable lines, buses, minibuses, metrobuses and ferries into the same journey‑planning interface, allowing users to map routes and receive real‑time updates across all modes from a single screen.
The move gives Marti a full multimodal experience that keeps riders on the platform for public‑transport trips while still offering its ride‑hailing, micromobility and delivery services. By exposing public‑transport users to the broader suite, Marti aims to boost cross‑sell opportunities and improve retention, turning the app into a one‑stop solution for daily commutes.
Istanbul’s public‑transport network handles roughly 10 million trips each day, and Marti’s app already serves about 7.1 million unique riders. The company’s fleet of more than 14,500 vehicles supports the new feature, and its half‑year revenue of $14.33 million represents a 70.4 % year‑over‑year increase from $8.41 million, underscoring the momentum behind the expansion.
Founder and CEO Oğuz Alper Öktem said the integration is a “cost‑effective customer acquisition channel” that will help Marti capture a larger share of Turkey’s urban mobility market. He added that the company plans to roll the feature out to other major cities once the Istanbul launch proves successful.
With the public‑transport addition, Marti is positioning itself as a comprehensive mobility‑as‑a‑service platform that can tap into the high daily ridership of Istanbul’s transit system. The expansion aligns with the company’s broader strategy to accelerate revenue growth, narrow its net loss, and move toward profitability while strengthening its competitive edge in a crowded market.
