Murphy Oil’s subsidiary, Murphy Exploration & Production Company – USA, announced a multi‑year partnership with GeoComputing Group to migrate its exploration and subsurface workflows to the RiVA private‑cloud platform, a high‑performance solution that accelerates seismic, well‑log, and production data processing and includes integrated disaster‑recovery capabilities.

The move is expected to cut processing times from days to hours, improve data accuracy, and reduce the cost of maintaining on‑premise infrastructure, thereby supporting Murphy’s multi‑basin strategy across the Gulf of Mexico, Vietnam, and other key assets.

By leveraging the RiVA platform’s ability to handle larger data volumes more efficiently, the company aims to lower operating expenses per well, enhance capital efficiency, and gain a competitive edge over peers still relying on legacy systems—an outcome that aligns with Murphy’s focus on operational excellence and technology differentiation.

The announcement comes after Murphy reported Q3 2025 results that included a net loss of $3.0 million ($0.02 per share) driven by a non‑cash impairment related to the Dalmatian field, but an adjusted net income of $58.1 million ($0.41 per share). Revenue of $733 million beat analyst expectations of $664.7 million, reflecting strong demand in core segments and offsetting the impairment.

GeoComputing CEO John Creevan said the partnership would “significantly accelerate data workflows and reduce costs for Murphy, positioning the company to make faster appraisal and development decisions.” The collaboration is part of a broader industry trend toward private‑cloud solutions that deliver performance and cost advantages over traditional infrastructure and public cloud offerings.

With the RiVA platform’s high‑performance capabilities, Murphy expects to improve data accuracy and reduce the cost of maintaining on‑premise infrastructure, ultimately enhancing its ability to execute on its multi‑basin strategy and maintain a technology edge in a competitive market.
