Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced a comprehensive rollout for its 2027/28 winter season, featuring more than 370 voyages that will touch 50 countries across the Caribbean, Mexico, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The schedule includes two new Prima‑class vessels that will homeport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, offering week‑long itineraries to the Southern Caribbean and the British Virgin Islands, while the flagship Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Luna will continue to serve Florida homeports with a mix of short Bahamas getaways and longer Caribbean and Panama Canal cruises.
The company’s flagship Free at Sea Plus package returns for the first time since 2023, now available on all ships beginning February 1 2026. The $49.99 per person per day fee grants unlimited Starbucks® beverages, streaming Wi‑Fi, premium drinks and a 50% discount on specialty dining. Management expects the enhanced package to lift ancillary revenue per guest, a key driver of profitability as the cruise line expands its itinerary footprint.
Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island, will receive a new multi‑ship pier, an oversized heated pool and the Great Tides Waterpark. The upgrades, slated for completion in late 2025 or spring 2026, are designed to increase guest throughput and create new revenue streams while reinforcing NCL’s competitive position in the Caribbean market.
Norwegian’s recent financial performance underpins the expansion. Q3 2025 revenue reached $2.9 billion, up 5% YoY, and Q4 2024 revenue hit $2.1 billion, both record highs. The company’s strong cash flow and disciplined cost management give it the flexibility to invest in fleet expansion and on‑shore amenities. CEO Harry Sommer emphasized that the new itineraries and enhanced package “offer ultimate freedom to create their own adventure” and that the focus on Caribbean family itineraries and luxury experiences for Oceania and Regent Seven Seas Cruises will sustain growth.
The announcement signals a strategic push to capture higher‑margin ancillary spend while broadening market share in key regions. By deploying Prima‑class ships in San Juan and upgrading Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian is positioning itself to meet rising demand for flexible, value‑added cruise experiences, reinforcing its competitive edge against Carnival and Royal Caribbean.
