Newmont Peñasquito and the National Union of Mining, Metallurgical, Steel, and Similar Workers of Mexico reached a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2024-2026 period on October 18, 2024. This agreement is the result of open dialogue and a shared focus on the safety and well-being of the workforce.
The new CBA is designed to safeguard the rights of all workers and establish a solid foundation for continued operations at the Peñasquito mine. This ensures a sustainable future for the polymetallic mine, which is a significant economic pillar in the Zacatecas region, supporting nearly 5,000 direct and 28,000 indirect jobs.
Newmont reiterated its commitment to upholding high standards of compliance and fostering a culture of collaboration with the union to navigate future challenges. The agreement provides operational stability, which is vital for the consistent production of gold, silver, zinc, and lead from the mine.
