New Fortress Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: NFE) announced on October 8, 2025 that its 624‑MW CELBA 2 Power Plant in northern Brazil has achieved first fire, marking the successful ignition of the plant’s gas turbines and the commencement of the hot‑commissioning phase.
The CELBA 2 facility is part of NFE’s Barcarena terminal, which hosts a total of 2.2 GW of power development, including the 1.6 GW PortoCem Power Plant. PortoCem is fully financed, with construction approximately 75 % complete, and is expected to begin operations by August 2026.
Commercial operation of CELBA 2 is projected for later this year, after which it will provide reliable power to the region through NFE’s integrated gas‑to‑power infrastructure. The milestone positions NFE to participate in Brazil’s upcoming power auctions scheduled for March, potentially expanding its market share in the country.
