Nouveau Monde Graphite finalized a set of offtake agreements on Friday, 2025‑10‑31 that secure almost 100 % of the projected output from its Phase‑2 Matawinie Mine and Bécancour Battery Material Plant.
The agreements provide 13 000 tpa of active anode material to Panasonic Energy, which requires 25 000 tpa of graphite concentrate; 20 000 tpa of graphite concentrate to Traxys North America LLC, with 10 000 tpa on a firm take‑or‑pay basis; and 30 000 tpa of graphite concentrate reserved for Canada and allied countries under binding term sheets, 15 000 tpa of which is take‑or‑pay.
These contracts de‑risk the Phase‑2 projects and support the company’s pursuit of a Final Investment Decision, with letters of interest for over C$1 billion in project debt financing already in place. The agreements also reinforce Nouveau Monde Graphite’s strategy to build a fully integrated, carbon‑neutral supply chain in North America.
The new terms build on a 2022 Panasonic Energy agreement and a prior Traxys partnership, while replacing a General Motors supply agreement that will terminate on 2025‑11‑30. The expanded offtake portfolio positions the company to meet growing demand for battery anode material and to reduce reliance on Chinese supply chains.
Nouveau Monde Graphite’s focus on carbon‑neutral graphite, powered by Quebec’s renewable hydropower, aligns with national security and sustainability priorities and enhances its competitive advantage in the rapidly expanding electric‑vehicle and energy‑storage markets.
