Old Dominion Freight Line Announces 4.9% General Rate Increase Effective November 3, 2025

Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) announced today a 4.9 % general rate increase (GRI) that will take effect on November 3, 2025. The hike applies to the company’s existing 559, 670, and 550 tariff classes, which cover the majority of its less‑than‑truckload (LTL) service lanes.

The rate increase is intended to offset rising costs associated with real estate, new equipment, technology investments, and competitive employee wage and benefit packages. ODFL’s Vice President of Pricing Services, Todd A. Polen, stated that the GRI aligns with the company’s long‑term yield‑management philosophy and is expected to partially offset the increased operating expenses.

The GRI will affect class tariffs and is projected to raise minimum charges for intrastate, interstate, and cross‑border lanes. The announcement underscores ODFL’s commitment to maintaining its premium, on‑time, claims‑free service while managing cost pressures in a soft freight market.
