Opera Limited announced that MiniPay, its stablecoin-based wallet, has officially surpassed 8 million activated phone-verified wallets and processed over 200 million transactions since its launch in 2023. The platform also reported a 255% activation surge in Q2.
MiniPay, integrated into the Opera Mini browser and available as a standalone app, allows users to store, send, and spend stablecoins like Tether USDT, Circle USDC, and Celo cUSD without complex procedures or high fees. It has garnered over 2 million downloads on the Google Play Store.
Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera, stated that MiniPay's rapid growth reflects a real demand for stable, accessible financial tools in regions with high financial volatility. The platform's speed and adoption are further underscored by industry data showing close to 50% of all gas fees on the Celo network are paid through MiniPay usage.
