Opera announced a major tab management system upgrade for its flagship browser for Android, Opera for Android Version 89. This update introduces new tab gallery layouts, including carousel, grid, and list options, allowing users to customize their browsing preferences.
A key feature of this update is the arrival of Tab Islands, which enables users to manually group tabs or have them automatically grouped contextually. This helps users organize multiple tabs without clutter, a common issue for the over 25% of Opera Android users who keep thirty or more tabs open.
The update also includes the ability to quickly access and restore up to one hundred recently closed tabs, and a search function within the tab gallery to find specific tabs. Additionally, users can now mute individual tabs, providing more control over their audio experience.
