Opera announced the addition of AI Tab Commands to its flagship browser, Opera One, allowing users to manage their tabs using natural language with Aria, Opera's browser AI. This feature marks the first time Opera is deploying AI outside of the chatbox to assist with tab organization.
Users can access the Opera browser Command Line and type prompts to ask Aria to perform tasks such as closing all tabs from a specific domain or grouping tabs by topic. Alternatively, with five or more tabs open, users can right-click a tab and select the 'AI Tab Management' option.
The Tab Commands feature was developed with privacy and security in mind, ensuring that only the user's prompt is sent to the server, while all tab-related data remains on the user's device and is processed locally. This innovation continues Opera's history of improving core browser features, such as tabs, which it first introduced 25 years ago.
