Opera announced a partnership with Spotify, making the audio streaming service the default within the upgraded Music Player in its flagship browser, Opera One. This integration allows users to listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly from the browser's sidebar.
The new music player can be detached and moved around the screen, providing a seamless browsing experience without needing to switch tabs or applications. Opera users in selected countries will also receive a limited-time free trial of Spotify Premium.
This collaboration addresses user demand for integrated media, with a survey indicating 66% of respondents stream music on their phones while at their computers to avoid distractions. The feature also includes automatic audio fading and pausing during calls.
