Origin Materials announced a strategic partnership with Royal Hordijk Packaging, a leading Dutch producer of sustainable plastic packaging solutions, to mass produce PET bottlecaps. Hordijk, with over a century of experience, will utilize its PET extruders to produce extruded sheet for Origin's CapFormer production lines.
These CapFormer lines will be owned by Origin but operated by Hordijk in its European facilities, converting PET sheet into bottlecaps, including future tethered caps. This collaboration aims to leverage Hordijk's expert manufacturing, robust European operations, and global reach.
Origin CEO John Bissell highlighted that Hordijk's extrusion expertise can drive capital cost efficiency for CapFormer lines. The partnership is expected to enable the production of billions of PET caps, advancing mono-material packaging solutions that improve recyclability, enable lightweighting, and extend product shelf life in the over $65 billion market.
