Otter Tail Power Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Otter Tail Corporation, filed a request with the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) on June 4, 2025, seeking permission to increase its electric rates. This request aims to address rising costs associated with maintaining a safe and reliable system and meeting growing electricity demand.

The net effect of the company's request is an increase to rates of approximately $5.7 million. If the PUC approves the overall request as filed, the average net increase to customers would be approximately 12.5%.

The filing initiates a rate case process during which the PUC will review the company's costs and determine appropriate customer prices. If the PUC does not issue a decision within 180 days, Otter Tail Power can implement interim rates beginning December 1, 2025.
