Palo Alto Networks introduced Cortex AgentiX, a platform for building and governing autonomous AI agents that automate security operations such as threat‑intelligence investigations and email‑breach response.

The launch coincides with the company’s Ignite conference and follows the release of Cortex Cloud 2.0 and Prisma AIRS 2.0, positioning AgentiX as the next generation of the company’s Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) offering.

AgentiX is built on the existing Cortex XSOAR engine and will eventually replace it. The platform is immediately available in Cortex Cloud and Cortex XSIAM, with a standalone AgentiX platform slated for early 2026 and integration into Cortex XDR the same year.

The platform includes a no‑code GenAI builder that lets customers create custom agents, and it is trained on 1.2 billion real‑world playbook executions. Over 1,000 prebuilt integrations cover endpoint, network, cloud, and IT security scenarios.

CEO Nikesh Arora said the agents address growing demand for automation and will keep humans in the loop through role‑based access controls and optional human approvals. The company claims AgentiX can reduce mean time to respond by up to 98 % and cut manual analyst effort by 75 %.

The launch is part of Palo Alto Networks’ broader AI strategy, which also includes Prisma AIRS 2.0 that secures AI applications and models and incorporates technology from the Protect AI acquisition.
