Impinj announced a suite of Gen2X enhancements at its Gen2X Solutions Developers Conference on November 12, adding three new capabilities—Endpoint IC Verification, Fast Reinventory, and Tag Selection—to its M800, M770, and M780 series chips.
Endpoint IC Verification uses cryptographic checks to confirm tag authenticity, reducing fraud risk. Fast Reinventory accelerates inventory cycles by allowing readers to skip tags that have already been read, cutting cycle time by up to 30%. Tag Selection lets readers filter tags by custom criteria, limiting stray reads and improving data accuracy in dense retail and industrial environments.
The new features are immediately available in the latest M800 series endpoint ICs and are supported by updated R700 reader firmware and E‑Family reader IC firmware. Impinj also extended Gen2X support to its M770 and M780 series, which serve logistics, manufacturing, automotive, and healthcare markets, and upgraded the ICs with Enduro V2 bonding pads to enhance manufacturability and reliability.
Impinj’s Q2 2025 results showed revenue of $97.9 million—$4.0 million above the $93.89 million consensus—and adjusted EBITDA that beat guidance, underscoring strong demand for RFID solutions. In Q3, revenue of $96.1 million and an EPS of $0.58 also exceeded estimates, reflecting continued momentum in core segments. CEO Chris Diorio highlighted the company’s “strong results” and the growing adoption of Gen2X, noting that more than 100 Gen2X‑enabled inlays and 50 readers had launched in less than a year.
After the Q2 earnings beat, market sentiment was positive, while the Q3 earnings, despite beating estimates, were met with a more cautious outlook that tempered enthusiasm. The new Gen2X innovations are expected to support future revenue growth by reducing operational costs, improving data accuracy, and strengthening Impinj’s competitive advantage over rivals that lack similar features.
With limited quantities available today and full general availability slated for mid‑2026, the Gen2X enhancements position Impinj to capture a larger share of the expanding RFID market and reinforce its leadership in enterprise‑grade RFID technology.
