Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL) announced on 2025‑10‑18 that its subsidiary, Planet Labs Federal, has secured a $12.8 million contract from the National Geospatial‑Intelligence Agency (NGA) under the Luno B indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) program. The award is for Advanced Analytics for Maritime Operations and Reconnaissance (AAMOR) and represents the initial value of the IDIQ. The contract will provide NGA with AI‑enabled maritime domain awareness solutions, including vessel detection and monitoring over key Asia‑Pacific areas. The AAMOR award was won in partnership with SynMax, whose Theia product analytics are integrated with Planet’s daily PlanetScope imagery. The collaboration delivers AI‑enabled detections of maritime events at strategic and tactical levels, enabling the identification of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, illicit ship‑to‑ship transfers, and vessel spoofing. The contract’s scope covers advanced analytics for maritime operations and reconnaissance, positioning Planet as a prime provider for NGA’s maritime domain awareness needs. This new contract expands Planet’s defense and intelligence portfolio, adding a significant revenue stream and reinforcing its AI‑driven analytics capabilities. The award demonstrates the company’s ability to secure large government contracts and signals potential for future IDIQ extensions or additional NGA programs. The deal underscores Planet’s strategic focus on delivering actionable insights to national security customers and enhances its competitive positioning in the Earth observation market.
