Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) announced on January 28, 2025, that it has received a fifth purchase order for its thin film lithium niobate (TFLN) photonic chip foundry. This latest order comes from a Canadian research group, supporting its quantum photonics research efforts with custom TFLN photonic integrated circuit (PIC) chip test structures. The research group will receive priority access and preferred rates for future multi-project wafer (MPW) runs offered by QCi. Dr. William McGann, CEO of QCi, stated that this partnership reinforces the increasing demand for TFLN's energy efficiency and scalability, demonstrating QCi's near-term opportunity to address real-world challenges. Additionally, QCi launched its PIC Process Design Kit (PDK) utilizing GDSFactory's open-source platform, which will host QCi's PDK to streamline design and manufacturing. This initiative will allow users to design and simulate circuits before manufacturing, particularly for future MPW runs, and QCi plans to make its PDK available through additional service providers over the next two years.
