Rain Enhancement Technologies announced that its Weather Enhancement Technology Array (WETA) system in Gill, Colorado has begun operations, marking the company’s first U.S. installation and Colorado’s inaugural warm‑weather modification program. The system was installed in October 2025 and became fully functional on November 11, 2025, the same day the company disclosed the milestone.

The Colorado Water Conservation Board approved a permit that is valid through October 31 2026, with the possibility of a five‑year renewal. The WETA array covers up to 360 square miles—approximately 230,000 acres—of agricultural land in Weld County and is designed to increase rainfall by 15‑18% based on peer‑reviewed trials. The permit requires annual performance reports, underscoring the regulatory oversight that accompanies the program.

WETA is a solar‑powered, chemical‑free system that uses ionization to create aerosols that enhance condensation. By avoiding traditional silver iodide cloud seeding, the technology differentiates itself on environmental grounds and operational simplicity, positioning RAIN as a cleaner alternative in the weather‑modification market.

CEO Randy Seidl said the launch “represents a transformative milestone for Rain Enhancement Technologies as we bring our proven ionization technology to American agricultural communities.” Seidl highlighted the company’s confidence that the operational success will pave the way for additional U.S. installations and potential revenue generation from the technology’s commercial deployment.

Andrew Rickert, Weather Modification Program Manager with the Colorado Water Conservation Board, noted that the state is “encouraged by the potential of this innovative technology to supplement water resources for Colorado’s agricultural communities.” Rickert’s comment reflects the board’s support for a technology that could mitigate the region’s persistent drought conditions.

The operational milestone signals a critical step in RAIN’s strategy to scale its technology and secure new contracts. Successful regulatory compliance and real‑world validation in a warm‑weather environment strengthen the company’s case to investors and partners, while the projected rainfall increase and large coverage area highlight the commercial potential. Headwinds remain in the form of regulatory reporting requirements and the need to demonstrate sustained performance, but the company’s early success positions it favorably for future expansion.
