Red Cat Holdings, Inc. announced it has been selected as the sole winner of the U.S. Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) Program of Record. This production selection followed a comprehensive test and evaluation process of Teal’s next-generation sUAS, the Black Widow.
The selection was based on soldier feedback, technical performance, volume manufacturability, and system cost. The U.S. Army's current acquisition objective for the SRR program is 5,880 systems over a five-year period, with each system consisting of two aircraft.
This long-awaited contract win is a powerful moment for Red Cat, marking a new era for the company and the future of American drones. It is expected to provide the capability to continuously improve the Black Widow, scale production, and enhance margins, positioning Red Cat for significant growth within the U.S. Department of Defense and allied countries.
