Sunrun Inc. announced that its CEO, Mary Powell, has been named to the 2024 TIME100 Climate list, which recognizes the world’s most influential leaders driving business climate action. This accolade acknowledges Powell's leadership in accelerating the customer-led revolution towards a more affordable, resilient, and energy-independent future.
During Powell’s three-year tenure, Sunrun has significantly expanded its impact, adding over 400,000 new customers and achieving a nearly 500% increase in battery installations, totaling 112,000 new storage customers. This growth has contributed to generating approximately 21 billion kilowatt-hours of solar energy, helping to avoid nearly 10 million metric tons of carbon emissions.
Powell's strategic shift to a storage-first model has enabled Sunrun to become the first residential storage-plus-solar company to reach over 1 million customers. This positioning allows the company to lead in creating a more economical and sustainable grid, enhancing its share of residential storage installations in the U.S.
