On September 24, 2025, Sono Group N.V. announced today that its subsidiary Sono Solar and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Transport Europe (MTTE) have partnered to deliver one of the first fully integrated solar solutions for electric and hybrid trailer refrigeration units (eTRUs) in the European market. The collaboration pairs MTTE’s TEF1500 eTRU and battery pack with Sono Solar’s high‑efficiency photovoltaic modules and intelligent charge controller, creating a system that continuously charges the trailer’s battery, extends autonomy, cuts diesel use, and reduces CO₂ emissions. The integrated system is designed to harvest solar energy throughout the trailer’s duty cycle, enabling operators to lower fuel consumption, reduce idling, and improve total cost of ownership while maintaining cooling performance. Sono Solar’s proprietary charge controller manages power flow between the photovoltaic array and the trailer’s battery, ensuring optimal energy utilization and system reliability. A fully equipped semi‑trailer featuring the integrated solution is available immediately for customer trials, and the new system will be on display at NUFAM in Karlsruhe from September 25 to 28, 2025. The partnership also signals Sono Group’s commitment to expanding its product portfolio into high‑value refrigerated logistics, a segment with growing demand for low‑emission, low‑cost solutions. This milestone aligns with Sono Group’s capital‑light, partner‑driven strategy following its recent uplisting. By leveraging MTTE’s engineering expertise and service network, Sono Group can accelerate market penetration without significant capital outlay, positioning the company to capture a share of the expanding electric trailer refrigeration market and generate new revenue streams in the coming quarters.
