Shimmick Construction Company, Inc., in a joint venture with Myers and Sons, has been awarded a key role in the North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project by the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro). The Myers-Shimmick Joint Venture (MSJV) will serve as the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) for the project's preconstruction services phase.

The contract for preconstruction services, approved on December 5, 2024, by the LA Metro Board of Supervisors, is valued at $8.26 million. This marks the initial phase of a transformative 19-mile transit corridor designed to connect North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and Pasadena in California. The project will feature 22 new stations and utilize zero-emission electric buses.

The estimated construction value for the full construction phase, if awarded to MSJV by LA Metro, is $190 million. Early utility work is scheduled to commence in 2025, with the overall project slated for completion by 2028. CEO Ural Yal highlighted the use of the CM/GC project delivery method, which facilitates collaboration to address project risks and prepare for the construction phase.
