On Monday, OpenAI announced that U.S. users can now purchase products from Etsy sellers directly inside ChatGPT, with support for more than one million Shopify merchants slated to join the platform soon. The feature, called Instant Checkout, allows shoppers to discover and buy items without leaving the chat interface.
Instant Checkout was co‑developed with Stripe and keeps users in the conversation from product discovery to payment, streamlining the checkout experience. The rollout is live first for U.S. Etsy sellers, and Shopify merchants will be able to participate shortly thereafter.
