South Korea's SK Telecom was fined approximately 134 billion won, equivalent to $96.53 million, by a South Korean agency. This fine was imposed after the country's largest mobile carrier suffered a cyberattack earlier this year.

The cyberattack led to the leak of data for nearly 27 million users, prompting the regulatory body to take punitive action. This financial penalty adds to the costs incurred by SK Telecom due to the security breach.

The fine is part of the broader regulatory response, which also included an order for SK Telecom to strengthen its data security measures. The company has committed to a KRW 700 billion 'Information Protection Innovation Plan' over five years to address security concerns.
