Skechers U.S.A., Inc. announced on July 28, 2025, that it will vigorously defend against a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Kizik Design, LLC. Kizik alleges that Skechers Hands Free Slip-ins® infringe its patents, a claim Skechers believes is baseless. Michael Greenberg, President of Skechers, stated that the timing of the lawsuit is 'curious,' coming after Skechers announced its $9.42 billion merger with 3G Capital. He noted that Skechers has been selling Slip-ins since December 2021 without prior communication from Kizik. Skechers asserts that hands-free footwear has existed for at least a century and that it has developed its own unique Slip-ins technology, securing over 140 utility and design patents worldwide. The company plans to aggressively challenge both the validity of Kizik's patents and the infringement claims.
