Sonoco Products Company announced with sadness the death of Tomás López, Chief Executive Officer of Sonoco Metal Packaging EMEA, in his hometown of Murcia, Spain. López was a highly respected and visionary leader in the European can-making industry.
López had a long career in can making, starting in 1980 with Mivisa Envases and leading it to become the largest food can producer in the Iberian Peninsula and Morocco. He continued to lead Eviosys after its formation in 2021 and remained CEO following its acquisition by Sonoco in December 2024.
Rodger Fuller, Sonoco’s Chief Operating Officer and a 40-year company veteran, has been named Interim CEO of Sonoco Metal Packaging EMEA. Fuller has been deeply involved in the integration of Eviosys into Sonoco Metal Packaging, aiming to provide leadership stability during this transition.
