SS&C Technologies Holdings, Inc. has obtained a Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) licence from the Central Bank of Ireland, giving the company a single regulatory passport to deliver its integrated wealth‑management technology across the entire European Union from its Dublin hub.

The licence builds on SS&C’s existing UK wealth‑management operations and gives the firm regulatory flexibility to serve clients throughout Ireland and the EU. SS&C now employs more than 550 professionals in Ireland, managing €95 billion in assets across fund structures and €25 billion in life‑and‑pension products, and is positioned to capture a larger share of the €6.1 trillion private‑wealth asset base it serves worldwide.

The European wealth‑management market was valued at €18.6 trillion in 2024, and the MiFID licence allows SS&C to tap into that growth by offering a unified custody and back‑office solution that reduces compliance costs and streamlines operations for financial institutions across the region.

Nick Wright, Global Head of SS&C Global Investor & Distribution Solutions, said the licence “gives us the flexibility to bring our proven wealth‑management capabilities to clients across Ireland and Europe, helping them modernise their operations and meet evolving client and regulatory expectations.” Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, added that the announcement “further underscores Ireland’s position as a leading location for global firms in the financial services sector.”

The licence is a strategic enabler for SS&C’s broader growth plan, which includes recent acquisitions such as Calastone and Battea‑Class Action Services. By consolidating regulatory oversight under one MiFID licence, SS&C can accelerate market penetration, reduce regulatory fragmentation, and strengthen its competitive position against other European wealth‑management providers.
