Scripps News, the national news network owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, is implementing a new lineup for its streaming programming, effective November 18. This change follows an announcement in September that Scripps News would end its over-the-air broadcast on November 15, shifting its national news programming entirely to streaming and digital platforms.
The new schedule will feature weekday live programming from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time, providing in-depth storytelling and live coverage of major events. Outside of these hours, Scripps News will air select major events and breaking news live in prime time, expanding its showcase of reports from Scripps' local, national, and international journalists.
Matt Simon, Vice President of Scripps News, stated that streaming is the future of the business, noting that streaming viewership has grown over 44% year over year. The transition aims to deepen integration with local stations and focus on innovative showcasing of original reporting across the enterprise, positioning Scripps News to reach more viewers digitally.
