SoundThinking, Inc. announced on March 27, 2025, one new customer agreement and three contract renewals for its ShotSpotter acoustic gunshot detection system in the greater Los Angeles area. Pasadena, Lancaster, Hawaiian Gardens, and Lakewood, CA, are all deploying the technology to address gun violence and enhance community safety.
Pasadena, which first deployed ShotSpotter in 2022, has seen the system alert police to over 125 shootings, with over 60% of gunfire incidents going unreported to 911 in Q3 2024. Hawaiian Gardens, using ShotSpotter since 2023, received 176 alerts in 2023, leading to critical evidence recovery and witness statements. Lakewood went live with ShotSpotter in July 2024.
Lancaster recently completed a six-month pilot of the ShotSpotter system in 2024, which provided 36 confirmed alerts, and is now entering a three-year term. These multiple agreements underscore the continued demand for ShotSpotter as an effective tool for law enforcement in addressing gun violence and improving public safety outcomes in urban areas.
