Stantec, in partnership with Drees & Sommer, has been selected for Silicon Box’s new €3.2 billion state-of-the-art semiconductor assembly and test facility in Northern Italy. Stantec's role in this major project includes providing architecture for the administration areas and infrastructure design, along with overall permitting services. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2028 and is expected to create approximately 1,600 jobs in the region.
This project marks Silicon Box’s first manufacturing expansion outside of Singapore, aiming to enhance the global electronics supply chain. The new facility will emulate Silicon Box’s advanced flagship facility in Singapore, which specializes in large-format panel-level semiconductor packaging solutions. Stantec's global expertise in building cutting-edge manufacturing facilities was a key factor in its selection.
The design will adhere to the highest environmental standards, focusing on sustainability and minimizing environmental impact in line with European Commission requirements. This initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for broader advanced manufacturing investments and innovation in Italy, supporting key areas like artificial intelligence, data centers, and electric vehicles.
