AT&T has entered into an agreement to purchase a portion of spectrum licenses from United States Cellular Corporation for $1.018 billion in cash. This strategic acquisition includes 1,250 million MHz-Pops of 3.45 GHz and 331 million MHz-Pops of 700 MHz B/C block licenses. The additional spectrum will enhance AT&T's wireless network capabilities across more than 400 markets in the U.S.
The transaction is largely contingent upon the closing of UScellular's proposed sale of its wireless operations to T-Mobile, as well as receiving necessary regulatory approvals. The deal is expected to close in mid-2025. This acquisition is a key step in AT&T's ongoing efforts to expand and improve its 5G and high-speed data services nationwide.
