ThredUp announced a significant revamp of its Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) offering, transitioning to an open-source model. This strategic shift includes the elimination of fees for branded resale shops, aiming to broaden access to its partner network and help brands and retailers expand their resale operations. The company's move to an open-source RaaS model is designed to position ThredUp as a universal recommerce layer, providing the operational and technological backbone for brands to efficiently ingest and resell secondhand items. This initiative is expected to generate promising engagement from brands, with over 60 apparel brands in renewed conversations. In an additional operational milestone, ThredUp launched a curated vintage collection in partnership with Beyond Retro. This new offering features more than 17,000 pieces of womenswear, inspired and sourced from the 1970s through the early 2000s, diversifying ThredUp's product assortment and catering to evolving consumer preferences.
