ReposiTrak announced the addition of 42 food suppliers, including purveyors of cheeses, chai, and other dairy and tea products, to the queue of companies joining its ReposiTrak Traceability Network (RTN). These companies are preparing to efficiently exchange FDA-required Key Data Elements (KDEs) for Critical Tracking Events (CTEs) in their supply chains, with the goal of meeting the growing traceability demands of their retail customers.
Among the new suppliers are soft cheese companies, such as a brand offering spreadable feta cheese and a farmstead goat cheese producer, as well as companies with herbs as core ingredients, including a Hawaii-based maker of herbal iced teas and a specialty chai beverage company. Randy Fields, Chairman and CEO of ReposiTrak, noted that suppliers of all types are responding to customer requests for sharing food traceability data for every shipment.
Each retailer or wholesaler has a unique set of requirements, with some demanding traceability for all foods or entire categories, while others focus on FDA Food Traceability List items. The RTN requires no additional hardware, and every traceability data file is checked using a 500+ point error detection process, with ReposiTrak’s U.S.-based team working with suppliers to make corrections.
