Trane Technologies reported that its BrainBox AI platform delivered a 15% reduction in energy use across three Amazon Grocery Fulfillment Centers in North America, a result that more than doubles the original project target. The pilot, selected in 2024 as part of Amazon’s Sustainability Accelerator Climate Tech Pilot program, concluded before the December 1 announcement and demonstrates the platform’s ability to optimize HVAC operations in high‑volume logistics environments.

The partnership follows Trane’s January 2025 acquisition of BrainBox AI, which added deep‑learning algorithms that predict building energy needs and automate HVAC controls. The pilot’s success validates the integration of BrainBox’s technology into Trane’s broader portfolio and confirms the company’s strategy to embed AI into its core HVAC offerings. The 15% savings were achieved through real‑time adjustments to temperature setpoints, load forecasting, and equipment scheduling, all driven by the platform’s predictive models.

Trane plans to roll the solution out to more than 30 additional fulfillment and distribution centers across the United States and to launch a grocery‑store pilot in 2026. The expansion is expected to generate new service‑revenue streams and accelerate adoption of Trane’s AI‑enabled building optimization across a high‑profile, high‑volume customer base, positioning the company to capture a larger share of the growing market for energy‑efficient, data‑driven HVAC solutions in the retail and logistics sectors.

The achievement underscores Trane’s strategic shift toward AI‑powered climate solutions and reinforces its competitive position against other building‑management providers. By securing a win with Amazon, Trane gains a powerful reference case that can drive future deals in similar high‑volume, sustainability‑focused environments. The partnership also aligns with Amazon’s net‑zero carbon goal under The Climate Pledge, further highlighting the commercial and environmental value of the collaboration.

"Together, we’re not only transforming these fulfillment centers but also driving meaningful progress toward Amazon’s sustainability goals," said Riaz Raihan, SVP and Chief Digital Officer of Trane Technologies. "The results validate our AI strategy and open new opportunities to help customers reduce energy consumption while maintaining operational excellence."
